The V-shaped combination seal for piston rods consists of a set (of at least three) V-shaped sealing rings, a compression ring, and a support ring. It is suitable for unidirectional pressure sealing in reciprocating hydraulic applications. A grease compatible with the sealing material must be applied during installation. It cannot be installed in a monolithic (closed) groove.

V-shaped seals can be adjusted in the axial dimension by adjusting the gasket to achieve optimal sealing and friction. Initial wear after long-term operation can be extended by adjusting the axial dimension. The recommended design for the adjustable seal cavity axial dimension is 1.025L, with an adjustment range of 7.5%L.
